Rescued plants

December 2nd, 2008 at 02:46 pm

There was another set of pothos that an employee wanted to throw away. It was indeed in very sad shape, but at least one pot was still alive and well, and the rest was clinging on to its dear life.

So, when I found out about it, I asked if I can take it home with me. I don't know, the idea of throwing away even plant life without trying to save them just didn't sit well with me.

I had to fill out paperwork just to remove "office property", even if it was slated for the dump. But it's worth it.

I don't have a picture of it right now, but I spent last night pruning and watering it. Hopefully, it'll have a speedy recovery.

But hey, free house plants!

Oh no! I hope you aren't becoming one of those plant rescuers, whose life will be over run with plants. Makes me think of those who rescue too many cats!! Just kidding, BA. Plants always make good decor and free is even better

I can be strong! I can say no to any more stray plants! I can... oh look at the poor little things. Ok, you can come in.

All you need is a green cape with a wilty plant appliqued on it, and a mask. (Oh, and theme music and a side kick)

ROFLOL about the "office property" removal paperwork. If they toss it in the trash do they have to fill out paperwork? If not, what is the difference if you take it back out of the trash?

Tell me about it. The level of bureaucracy can be amazing sometimes.

But so long as they keep paying me, I'm not going to complain!

Re: "office property" removal paperwork...well, you probably were taking a couple of Cold War-era microphones along with the nearly-dead plants. Check the underside of those leaves! Kind of a deal, if you think of it that way.

Office Property...hilarious. Thank you for saving that plant.

I love the mental image of you very lovingly pruning and watering this plant back to life :-) Ah the simple things in life!

Hehe, better than my mental image where I am constantly looking over my shoulders to make sure no one sees me in my green Plant Man superhero fetish costume, talking to plants with larger-than-life action voices and sound effects.

I know how you feel. That empathy for anything that desperately fights for its life, even plants.
