May 09 net worth

May 29th, 2009 at 02:34 pm

Just updated my net worth for the month. For once, I wasn't sure where I'd end up. I spent a lot of cash on the new PC, and the market seemed kind of flat to me.

Surprisingly enough, my net worth still went up, and kind of substantially even.... I wonder if I miscalculated somewhere? Hmm, no, the numbers look right.

Ok, it looks like this month's stock trading is sort of panning out. Most of the gains is being driven by my current stake in Conoco Philips. The price of crude has been rising for the past couple of months.

While I'm at it, is anybody else paying more at the pump as well? I am, and it's getting high enough that I may have to rebudget yet again for gas....

I'm starting to slow down considerably in terms of trading. I used to trade as much as once every few days. Now, it's getting to be as long as an entire month. Hey, for a guy that can trade once every few days, that's a long time. Big Grin

Even though the stock trading is buoying this month's figure, because of the new PC purchase, things are still going to be tight for me for a while. But that doesn't mean I regret this purchase! Quite the opposite, in fact. I actually feel... kind of happy? Either that, or it's just the euphoria playing tricks on me.

Wow, I'm so sleepy and tired right now. Staying up way too late tinkering the PC. Hope everyone have a nice weekend.

I did a double take when I saw a $45 gas fillup expense on the credit card. Yeah, gas is definitely going up (I had been paying in the 30s for the minivan).

Of course the most it cost was $75. So I am not complaining yet. Wink

Congratulations on getting your new PC. I know that you will enjoy it. Son't worry about the expense. It's not like something that you have bought that will sit in a corner unused.

Gas prices are starting to concern me. I saw regular gas at $2.56 that was $2.32 last Wednesday. If the prices head back up I can see another downturn in the economy coming. In my humble opinion, gas seemed to lead alot of the downturn. My neighbor lost his trucking business because of the gas prices and eventually lost his home. So one feeds into the other.

As for the stock market, it has gone up so your funds should have gone up as well.

    Yep, gas is up.

I have only done 2 trades this year. All in the option market. I bought calls on VMWare and got out with a big gain right before the conference call. I rolled the money into STT and bought the calls on 4/29 when the share price was $35. I have been letting my trades ride longer then normal, but it seems to be working.

I put the trailing stops on and just let the profits ride. I think I made about 65% on the VMWare trade and am up about 29% on my STT trade. I just wish my mutual funds were looking as good. In any case, I'll probably trade out of STT in June and be looking for my next trade.

Yep, gas is defintely on the rise again. In the last month it has risen at least $.40/gallon here in Dallas. Not good - especially when some of the jumps have been ten cents in a 24 hour period!

Congrats on the new computer, btw. I came close to having to do that myself - but a reformatting (on accident) seemed to make it all good again.
