Bedroom pics

October 3rd, 2009 at 09:20 pm

Lately, everybody seem to be sharing pictures of their personal spaces here. Pictures like that fascinate me to no end.

I don't know what that means, if anything, but since my personal space has changed somewhat, I thought I should "return the favor" by sharing new pictures of my room.

And for extra fun, I did not straighten anything out this time. Everything is exactly as you see it in my everyday life.

This here is my bedroom:

As you can see, it's really not much different from before. The arrangement is only because I have a new alarm clock that can hook up to a pair of speakers that I have set up on each side of the bed. It's pretty neat, because I can now listen to soothing music when I am lying down. Unfortunately, there is also no shortage of audio power here to wake up me up in the morning. Well, I guess that's a good thing. Big Grin

Here's a picture of my computer desk, the other space I generally "live in":

What may not be apparent in the picture is that I've moved the computer out of my bedroom and into a different room. The room accommodates the audio equipment better, I am less tempted to jump out of the bed to check something online, thus forcing me to sleep, and it has more space to accomodate the children since we tend to congregate around the computer....

I know it doesn't look like much, and I agree it isn't. But I am still a house-sitter, and this isn't my house. So, there's no point settling in with a bunch of stuff, because I have to move out some day anyway.

It's kind of a psychological bummer too, because deep down, I dream of having a place of my own.... A place I don't have to wonder when I'll have to leave and where I will end up next. A place I can finally stretch out and feel at ease in. A place that I can finally call... home.

Boy, I must sound really effeminate there. Big Grin In the meantime, this house-sitting gig isn't bad at all, and I am grateful for such an opportunity!

When did you get this computer desk? Did'nt you use to have a taller one?
Hey, your living in a bachelor pad, right? You have a bed and a place for your books and plants, so what more do you need?
Free rent is always GOOD! Smile

OH, I didn't know you were house-sitting. Well, it sounds like for now, it suits you, and i guess that gives you time to think out your direction from there.

Boo: Same desk. I unscrewed the top part off because it was too tall to fit due to the angled ceiling. Yeah, I'm not complaining or anything. For what it's worth, this is a very sweet deal. Big Grin

fern: Yes, I am eternally grateful for the opportunity, and every day I am able to stay here is a day closer to being able to save towards a bigger and better future. Big Grin

These pictures fascinate me as well...I haven't posted any of mine though.

Considering all the ugly (free) crap I have in my house, I think your space looks very nice. Helps that I like black!

In my dh's room I showed the nice stuff. Not his decades old computer monitor. Though you probably glimpsed the rip in our free chair. (I don't think it came like that. I was just looking at it thinking we need a new chair. I threw a blanket over it for the interim. Which is a trick I use often in my house. Wink ).

Anyway, I digress. Thanks for sharing!!!

Looks refreshingly pack-up-able!! Wish I was down to something similar and I would be ready to sell here and downsize.

I too was wondering about the desk!

When is the house-setting gig up? Are you saving a down-payment on a house or is renting the next step?

  7. Broken Arrow Says:

Well, I don't know when my aunt will finally retire and move here. In fact, I don't think she knows exactly when either.

And yes, I most definitely am saving money in the meantime for my next, and hopefully last, residence. Ideally, I would like to buy, but I don't want to do so until it makes sense for such a purchase. If not, I have no problems renting in the meantime.

The amazing luxury of choice that I can afford here is not lost on me, and it is the reason why I am so grateful for them to help me out like this.

Soooo, if it turns out to be years instead of months, then you'll be happy with the decision to stay small with your possessions?

Your space(s) are a lot neater than mine. Smile
    Thanks for sharing!

I'm OK with it, Lux. Not ideal, but not much I can do about it is there? Plus, staying minimal saves money and reduces clutter too.

I wouldn't mind minor touches here and there though, so long as it doesn't end up with too much stuff that I have to move later and it doesn't cost too much.

I know I've asked about this at least once before, and the concensus was a water fountain. I've looked for one, and they either seem to be heavy, expensive or both. Big Grin That's why I didn't commit to it.

But I'm still open to suggestions though!

You are talking about a fountain for enjoyment right, not drinking?

If an enjoyment water fountain the only thing I'd be careful of is getting one where the water sound drowns out the pump sound. I had a smaller one at one point. I didn't use it much because the pump made too much noise that the small trickle was almost drowned out. I want the ambient sound, and there are other ways to get that. I have just never sized up on the fountain though.

To me, this purchase is one best done in person as in seeing/hearing it in operation. Then if you can find one of that brand by catalog or online cheaper, okay, but I'd want to hear it first.
