Random image

I came across this picture, and immediately sighed, "Wowwww." I'll bet it's even prettier when the sun is setting and the candles are lit. It does need more drapes though.

I just want to work and save so that I can have something like that some day.

After reading your blog for a 2-3 years, I see that you like a cozy, quiet, settled, gentle feel. That kind of feel is more easily achieved on a small property. If you carve out a small, cozy spot on a large property, it can be difficult to make it not feel like a sore thumb, unrelated to the house or to the rest of the property, just gawkily floating out there. So go for small, which is probably financially more quickly achieved anyway. My own coziest garden space is inspired by Moorish walled garden design, though I used walls of plants instead of mud or cement walls. I like to be enveloped.

We had a similar gazebo, with a canvas type top on our deck when we moved in. I even wrapped white Chrismas lights around the ceiling area. With our plasitc table and chairs underneath...it was very cozy in the summer. We live in suburbia next to a main road and we still loved it. Great with a glass of wine, I might add. Unfortuately, midwest winds don't take kindly to gazebos with fabric covers...it only lasted about two seasons. We have decided not to replace.

Good luck finding this place on your property...someday.

Yep, Joan, you got me. Big Grin Small and cozy isn't just a personal preference, but it is indeed more financially conducive. My, I'm using a big word on a Friday today

Thanks for the input, CCF. I'll have to think about the practical implementation of it if and when I get around to that.

I like it! We'll all come over for a glass of wine when you get it. Being such frugalites, we'll bring our own!
