Right now, I pay $50 a month for home DSL. However, I've recently discovered Clear.com's portable 4G hotspot.
The device is unlimited 4G broadband for $40 a month, and as an added bonus, it's portable, which means I can get broadband access anywhere for my iPod Touch.
The crazy part is that I now carry three devices on my belt: My cellphone, the iPod Touch, and now this hotspot device. I look like Batman. Are there more elegant solutions out there? Most definitely. A good smartphone with tethering would do the job of all 3 devices. However, my monthly bills would TRIPLE, and I'm just not willing to drop that kind of money.
The other downside is that 4G coverage is still limited, which means I don't always have it. However, I do have it at home, and in most places at my work, and that's good enough for me.
So, here's the simple breakdown of my bills, separated into the following format: Need - Solution - Cost
Internet - Clear 4G hotspot - $40 a month
Phone number - Tracfone - $5 a month
And... that's it! All of my internet and phone needs right there. All of it mobile too. I love it.
